Surf’s Up All Around the World

Summer has hit Nothern California, and there’s nothing that makes me feel it more than walking along the beach in Santa Cruz. Surfers, the day’s last rays bouncing off the ocean and a thousand sparkling diamonds flashing on the water. It’s what summer dreamin’ is made of.
I wrote a Beach Boys-inspired song called "Surf’s Up All Around the World" about two years ago on a typical Santa Cruz summer day, just like the one you see here. I had gone to the dog beach with my lab, Lola. After spending an hour throwing her ball into the waves, we took a break to relax on West Cliff drive and watch the surfers. That scene inspired "Surf’s Up."
The song made it onto The Great Adventures of Mr. David, and has been a favorite of many of my fans. What most don’t know is that the original was a simple acoustic guitar version with a stripped down vocal. It always makes me think of sitting at a beach bonfire with a bunch of friends.
Here it is. I hope you enjoy it.
