A Brief Description of Mr. David
Mr. David creates rock'n music for kids and their families--the kind of music that moms and dads will love to listen to as much as their children.
(Really, we're not just saying that. It won't drive you crazy.)
Mr. David started playing for kids in 2003 at schools in the Bay Area. He recently released his third children's album: Jump in the Jumpy House. In 2006, The Great Adventures of Mr. David was named one of the Top 10 Albums for Kids and Families and his music is in rotation at stations across the country, including XMKids.
Definitely not your typical children's musician, Mr. David is influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Neil Young and just about everything in between.
More About Mr. David
Well first, he's someone who gets kids. He understands them; speaks their language; appreciates their vibe . . . without even trying. They get him too. It's probably why they love his music.
He sees the world differently than most-in muchas Technicolor and crazy detail.
He's stubborn. (Guess you have to be in this business.)
He's funny and entertaining; oh yes, and creative and an excellent songwriter . . . but you have to be that as well.
He started playing music at 14; hasn't stopped since. Mainly, he plays guitar, sings and writes, but he also plays the drums, a little piano, harmonica and other things . . . oh yeah, he is a pretty mean egg shaker.
He collects instruments (like egg shakers and rain makers and old wash boards).
He has a SAG card (that's Screen Actors Guild, for those of use who are not "in the biz").
He loves popsicles. (His wife prefers ice cream.)
He comes from an eccentric Greek/French/Polish/Arab-American family . . . I guess that would just make his an "American" family. They do have a colorful background. (His mom went to the last Beatles concert 1966 at Candlestick and learned how to cook from Tibetan monks; his father was a yogi in San Jose, Calif., in the 70s).
He has a yellow lab named Lola. (Yes, she's the one in "She's a Good Dog")
He loves The Beatles (but also claims to be influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Roy Orbison, The Rolling Stones and everything in between).
He loves the 60s . . . thinks the 80s were lame, but pretty interesting anyway.
Was a pretty good skater as a kid (enough to get in a big skateboard magazine).
He writes a lot of poetry, paints in oils and acrylics (with dirt).
He's a pretty salt-of-the-earth-kind-of-guy; happy to just sit in the back yard
and play music.
His band is called The Buckwild.
He started playing children's music in Bay Area pre-schools.
He's recorded three albums for kids: Mr. David's First Album, The Great Adventures of Mr. David and Jump in the Jumpy House. (They both rock.)
He believes that you can be a rock star and a childrens' artist. (By the way, he believes himself a rock star.)
He doesn't really like television. His favorite movie is Jaws. (The first one.)
He believes music is good for the soul, mental health and physical fitness.
